The refrigerator symptoms we hear most
- "Fridge is warm but the freezer is freezing" Air isn't making it out of the freezer. Usually a frosted evaporator, a failed defrost part, or a dead circulation fan.
- "Water is pooling under the vegetable drawer" The defrost drain tube is clogged or frozen, or a door gasket is letting humid air in.
- "It runs constantly and never shuts off" Dirty condenser coils, a condenser fan that's struggling, or a thermostat and control board reading wrong.
- "The ice maker quit and the water dispenser dribbles" Frozen fill line, an inlet valve on its way out, or a clogged filter choking the supply.
- "There's a loud buzz, then it goes quiet" Compressor start components or a relay. Sometimes it's just a fan blade rubbing its shroud.
Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Pull the fridge out a bit and look at the coils underneath or behind for a blanket of dust and hair.
- 2Set a glass of water inside with a thermometer, wait a few hours, and note the actual temperature.
- 3Run a hand along the door gasket for cracked spots or places where it no longer grips a sheet of paper.
- 4Confirm the outlet has power by plugging in a lamp, and check that a GFCI or breaker hasn't tripped.

How long can food stay safe once the fridge stops cooling?
Keep the doors shut and a full fridge holds around four hours. A packed freezer buys longer, closer to a day or two. If help is more than a few hours out, move meat and dairy to a cooler with ice.
Is it worth repairing an older refrigerator?
Depends on which part failed and how the cabinet has held up. A fan motor or defrost thermostat on a solid unit is usually sensible. Sealed system trouble on a well-worn fridge gets a longer conversation. We tell you what we see.
Why does frost keep building up in my freezer?
Frost means moisture is getting in, or the defrost cycle isn't clearing it out. Common causes: a torn gasket, a door held ajar by a crowded shelf, or a failed defrost heater, thermostat, or timer.
Do you work on built-in and counter-depth models?
Yes. Built-ins, counter-depth units, and column refrigerators are part of our regular work. They need careful removal from cabinetry, so mention the style when you call us and we'll plan the visit around that.
My fridge is noisy. Should I be worried?
Some sounds are normal. Gurgling refrigerant is fine, and so is the occasional pop as plastic shifts. Grinding, rhythmic clicking, or a buzz that cuts out points to a fan, relay, or compressor, and that one deserves a look.
How should I get ready for the technician?
Clear a path to the fridge and move rugs aside. Empty anything heavy off the door shelves. If the leak or the noise happens at a certain time of day, jot that down. Small details narrow things down fast.
