Dryer Vent Cleaning & Repair — Book a Visit Today

Lint never fully leaves a dryer. Some of it packs into the vent duct, and in Portland's damp air that packed lint turns into a wet felt plug. Then the dryer runs long, the laundry room gets muggy, and the machine cooks itself. Crushed flex duct behind the drum, a bird nest in the wall cap, a disconnected joint dumping lint into the crawlspace — we see all of it. A visit starts with the dryer pulled out and the run measured, then the duct brushed end to end, the cap checked for a flapper that actually moves, and any smashed or foil-tape sections replaced with rigid pipe. Airflow gets tested before we button it up. Call us and describe what your dryer is doing.

Dryer Vent Cleaning & Repair — residential dryer vent cleaning & being serviced

The dryer vent cleaning & symptoms we hear most

  • Towels take three cycles now Restricted exhaust from lint buildup or a crushed duct run
  • The laundry room feels like a sauna Exhaust leaking indoors at a loose joint or failed cap
  • Something smells hot and burnt Lint packed against the heater or blower housing — stop using it
  • Dryer shuts off on its own mid-load Thermal cutoff tripping from backed-up airflow
  • Outside flap never opens anymore Blocked wall cap, screen, or a bird nest in the termination

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Unplug the dryer, then pull the lint screen and hold it under running water — if water pools instead of passing through, fabric softener film is choking it.
  • 2Step outside while the dryer runs and feel for steady warm air at the wall or roof cap.
  • 3Look behind the dryer for foil flex duct that's kinked, squashed flat, or stretched way too long.
  • 4Check that the vent hood flapper swings freely and isn't painted shut, screened over, or stuffed with nesting material.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Phone us or fill out the form. Describe the noise, the puddle, the burning smell. Brand and rough age help too. We ask a few questions so the right parts ride along in the van.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

A technician arrives in the window we set, pulls the unit out, and tests it. Tight basement stairs and low bungalow ceilings are normal to us. You hear what's wrong before anything is replaced.

  3. Step 3

    You decide, we repair

We explain the fix and what it involves, then wait for your go-ahead. Most common parts are on the truck. If one has to be ordered, we tell you the plan and follow up.

Dryer Vent Cleaning & Repair — quick answers

How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?

About once a year for most households. Sooner if you dry bedding often, have a long duct run, share a home with shedding pets, or notice cycles creeping longer. Short, straight runs stay clear longer than ones that climb through two floors.

Can I just use a leaf blower on the vent?

It moves loose fluff but leaves the packed, damp layer stuck to the duct wall. That crust is what actually restricts airflow. Brushing the full length while the duct is disconnected is what clears it, and it lets us spot damaged sections.

Is flexible foil duct a problem?

The ridges catch lint and the material crushes easily behind the dryer. Rigid metal pipe with a short transition hose moves air better and stays cleaner. When we find long foil runs inside walls, we recommend replacing them with smooth metal.

Why is my vent full of water or dripping?

Cold ducts plus humid exhaust equals condensation, common in unheated Northwest crawlspaces and garages. Wet lint then cements to the pipe. Insulating the run, shortening it, or resloping so moisture drains outward usually fixes the drip.

Can a clogged vent hurt the dryer itself?

Yes. Trapped heat pushes thermal fuses, cycling thermostats, and heating elements past their limits. Many heat failures we repair trace back to a blocked duct. Clearing the vent protects the parts we just replaced.

Do you handle roof-terminated vents?

Often, yes. Roof caps collect lint and nests and are the hardest for homeowners to reach. Tell us the roof type, pitch, and stories when you call us so we bring the right equipment on the first trip.

Why homeowners call us

  • Damp-house know-howPortland laundry rooms grow mildew. Basements stay wet. We know how moisture ruins dryer vents, rusts washer parts and shorts out control boards, so we check the surroundings, not just the machine, before calling a repair done.
  • Unhurried visitsRushed diagnostics miss things. We take the extra minutes to pull the panel, look behind the drum and test the drain line. Then we tell you plainly what failed and whether the repair makes sense for that appliance.
  • Every major brandWe are an independent shop, so we work on the whole laundry room and kitchen: washers, dryers, refrigerators, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, freezers and disposals. Older units and newer digital models both get the same careful look.
  • Wide service reachHomeowners across five Western states reach us the same way. City bungalow, suburban split-level or a house down a gravel road, we schedule a visit and show up with tools and common parts ready.
  • All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more — as an independent repair company.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so — often on the phone.
