Dishwasher Repair — Book a Visit Today

Dishwashers fail in small, annoying ways first. A door that won't latch. Dishes that come out gritty. Water standing in the tub after a cycle. Then one day the pump won't drain at all, and there's a damp spot creeping across the kitchen floor. Common culprits: clogged filters and drain hoses, tired drain pumps, worn door gaskets, bad heating elements, float switches, and control boards that lose their minds mid-cycle. On a visit, we pull the lower rack, check the sump and spray arms, test fill and drain, and watch the machine run. Then we tell you plainly what's wrong and what it takes to fix it. Call us and we'll get you on the schedule.

Dishwasher Repair — residential dishwasher being serviced

The dishwasher symptoms we hear most

  • "There's water sitting in the bottom every morning" Blocked filter or sump, kinked drain hose, failing drain pump, or a check valve stuck open.
  • "Dishes come out with grit and film on them" Plugged spray arm holes, weak circulation pump, hard-water scale, or a detergent dispenser that isn't opening.
  • "It leaks onto the floor near the door" Worn door gasket, warped door, loose latch alignment, or overfilling from a stuck float or inlet valve.
  • "The cycle starts and then just stops" Thermal fuse, faulty door switch, control board fault, or a heating element that never reaches temperature.
  • "It smells like a swamp in there" Food buildup in the filter and sump, a sagging drain hose holding water, or mold in the gasket folds.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Pull the bottom rack and lift out the cylinder filter — rinse off the food sludge and check the sump for glass chips or a stray olive pit.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Phone us or fill out the form. Describe the noise, the puddle, the burning smell. Brand and rough age help too. We ask a few questions so the right parts ride along in the van.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

A technician arrives in the window we set, pulls the unit out, and tests it. Tight basement stairs and low bungalow ceilings are normal to us. You hear what's wrong before anything is replaced.

  3. Step 3

    You decide, we repair

We explain the fix and what it involves, then wait for your go-ahead. Most common parts are on the truck. If one has to be ordered, we tell you the plan and follow up.

Dishwasher Repair — quick answers

Is a dishwasher worth repairing, or should we replace it?

Depends on the part and the age. A drain pump, gasket, or heating element on a mid-life machine is usually a sensible fix. If the tub is cracked or several major parts are failing at once, we'll say so honestly.

Why does my dishwasher leave dishes wet?

Most models rely on a heated final rinse or a condensation drying cycle. A dead heating element, a rinse aid dispenser that's empty or blocked, or overloaded racks blocking airflow all leave dishes damp.

Can standing water damage the machine?

A little water in the sump is normal by design — it keeps seals from drying out. Several inches after a finished cycle is not. Left alone it turns sour and can stress the pump seals.

How long does a repair visit usually take?

Many dishwasher jobs wrap up in one visit once we've diagnosed the fault. Filters, hoses, gaskets, and pumps are common stock items. If a control board or specific part has to be ordered, we'll schedule a return.

Do you work on built-in and drawer-style dishwashers?

Yes. Built-ins, panel-ready units, and drawer models all come across our bench. We repair all major brands as an independent company, so we're not limited to one manufacturer's lineup.

Should I run the garbage disposal before starting a cycle?

Good habit. Many dishwashers drain through the disposal, and food packed in that chamber backs water up into the tub. Run it clear, and check that the drain plug was removed when the machine was installed.

Why homeowners call us

  • Damp-house know-howPortland laundry rooms grow mildew. Basements stay wet. We know how moisture ruins dryer vents, rusts washer parts and shorts out control boards, so we check the surroundings, not just the machine, before calling a repair done.
  • Unhurried visitsRushed diagnostics miss things. We take the extra minutes to pull the panel, look behind the drum and test the drain line. Then we tell you plainly what failed and whether the repair makes sense for that appliance.
  • Every major brandWe are an independent shop, so we work on the whole laundry room and kitchen: washers, dryers, refrigerators, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, freezers and disposals. Older units and newer digital models both get the same careful look.
  • Wide service reachHomeowners across five Western states reach us the same way. City bungalow, suburban split-level or a house down a gravel road, we schedule a visit and show up with tools and common parts ready.
  • All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more — as an independent repair company.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so — often on the phone.
