Why does my oven bake unevenly on one side?

Is an oven that runs 50 degrees cool worth fixing?

Often yes. A drifting temperature sensor is a small part and a straightforward swap on most ranges. Some ovens also allow a calibration offset. We check the sensor reading against actual cavity temperature and go from there.

My oven smells like gas. What should I do?

Leave the house, take everyone with you, and call your gas utility from outside. Do not flip switches or light anything. Once the utility clears the home, call us and we will look at the igniter, valve, and burner.

Can self-clean damage an oven?

It can. The extreme heat sometimes takes out a thermal fuse, a control board, or the door lock motor. If your oven went dead right after a clean cycle, mention that when you call. It narrows the search considerably.
